A few days ago, the guy I like (who I think might like me) gave me a hug... it was actually more like squeezing me, and I felt like I was going to choke or stop breathing. I don't think he meant to do that to me, but what does it mean when a guy hugs you really hard compared to when it's just a regular, lighter hug? Do different kinds of hugs have different significance? He seems to give other friends of his (girls) lighter hugs. I'm not sure if this means anything or not. What you all you huggers think?
What does it mean when a guy gives you a really hard hug?
1.) Family hug- The way I hug my parents or my grandma. It is very sensitive and delicate, an understanding of love that does not need to be overstated.
2.) Homie hug - For good friends guy or girl I am a big fan of the handshake - half hug. It implies that you care without gettin' all gay or anything. It can range from a pat on the back to a bear hug, though the handshake in the middle always keeps you safe. LOL.
3.) Generic hug - For whatever reason, at a funeral or some kind of family function. A generic hug comes in handy. It is pretty straight forward, nothing too special and generally short (unless the situation is really emotional). It is like a Family Hug, though directed at strangers and far less important.
4.) Sexual Hug - To my gal pals I usually give them the homie hug or just a modified generic hug. To my ladies, I give them the sexual hug. It is a special kind of hug that is part massage, part showin some love and part sex. These three formulas are modified, of course, to the situation and some gal-pals get a toned down version of this hug (though that is another topic!). Sometimes it is my hug that takes it to the next level.
Any guy who knows, knows that hugs are a way to get close to a girl. It's like the testosterone kicks in and even some gal-pals become fodder to feel titties and soft curves. mmmm, LOL! With guy friends it can range from obligation to respect, business arrangement to family greetings. Like a handshake, a show of force can be essential.
Perhaps your guy friend is showing you some affection on a respectful level, that is why he is squeezing you. I think that if he wanted to hook up, he would be more gentle, or, he's just the kind of guy that would be a terrible lover. LOL, all direct and awkwardly forceful.

Hmm there's a diffrence between short hugs, long hugs, tight hugs, and loose hugs. If it was a tight hug and it lasted long. He likes you. Even if it's a short tight hug, he likes you. The longer he hugs you it tells you he has time and doesn't want to let go. If it's a short tight hug, he's gotta go but he doesn't want to go. If it's a loose hug, it means just friends. Plain and simple. but yeah loose hugs (friend hug) tight hugs (don't let go). That's how I think about it.(:

One of my good guy friends does the same thing, but in a non romantic way. But if he normally gives you light hugs and suddenly doesn't, I say there is a good chance he's into you. I would try to flirt a little more and see how he responds.
well I hug all my friends that are girls reallyyyy hardd... for me it doesn't mean anything I just like hugs =D ahah I'm pretty sensitive for a 17 year old boy I guess but ohhh well so I think you might need a bit more evidence that he likes you b4 you jump to conclusions =)
I'm a hugger by nature. I think I hug everyone too hard. Sometimes I'm just in a bad way and desperately need a hug. So when I get one I think I tend to cling tighter. I would never hug someone I like romantically any different than I hug anyone else, until I know the feeling is reciprocal. It's a "respecting boundaries" kind of thing.
Go hug him for long amount of time and if he try to break off the hug, disagree and say you want to hug longer. Act cute at the same time so it would really get to him.
Well the girl that I like I gave her a big hard hug. It maybe means he likes you but I don't know its just me. Because since I have so much affection towards that girl I just have her a big hug.
I am not sure if it really means anything. I am sure some would say maybe a little aggression or even passion but to me a hard hug means nothing more then a light one.

I know I'm just a all-around tight hugger I just really love hugs and I think it circling more meaning and it when it's tighter tighter it is the more means basically everybody loves my hugs everybody is always told me that too
He has tinted skin, so do I, he has the reckless kid look which I like more than just some tough champ And I told myself numerous times I'd want to control time so yeah... this champ.. I am destined to get this champion xd
I my opinion, a light hug is a friendly hug and if he hugs you tightly he really does want to let you go. Try kissing his cheek and see if he moves in for a real kiss.
