What does it mean if a guy gives you a really looong, hard gripped and pulling you in super close kind of hug as you say goodbye?

In my case, this guy was my ex who i met up with to sort of talk about what went wrong with us and clear the air, since we left a lot without saying when we split, which was actually quite some time ago.
