Why are British women stereotyped as 'ugly'?

Does anyone have any insight to why this might be? And where did it come from? I was reading this news article where they was explaining how American women and Aussie women are much more attractive than 'ugly British women' even though most Americans and Australians actually decended from Britain so they look extremely alike the only noticeable difference would be their accents but Australians mainly decended from the UK. Do they just say that because they are generalizing or what? cause i have been to the uk and didn't see any ugly British girls and they was defiantly British they was not from other countries so i am confused by this

British women can be a bit more 'quirky' looking; where as in America, for example, a uniform kind of beauty seems more valued (take the teeth thing as an example).

Because of the unhealthy culture (which tends to be a bit more nihilistic than other areas in the world, not to mention the drab weather, so people stay indoors), low socio-economic status of parts, and the related 'stagnation' in certain areas; this might give us a bad rep. But really, British women are just as gorgeous as anywhere else; particularly in the more dynamic, affluent areas, where there is more mixing and healthier lifestyles. We tend to be a more reflective nation, and thus, less physically robust.

Its a stupid stereotype if you ask me, i have loads of British friends who are girls and they're all beautiful and everytime i have been to Britain i have never seen any ugly girls they look the same as any other women from any countries they are just sometimes on the paler side which isn't a bad thing either, most supermodels are British so that's got to tell you something

I am Greek and i have never heard this at all , i think British women are often the most pretty i see , stereotypes are just stereotypes there is normally no facts to them and British women being ugly is a lie

Sounds like a rather ridiculous notion to me. Or the opinion of some jealous butt hurt loser. That's like saying African women in the USA and South America are more attractive than those of... say... Trinidad! Who can tell the difference in looks between the same skin colored black woman of USA, Brazil or Trinidad of dressed, just by looking? Or Caucasian women from Britain, USA or Australia just by looking? Asian women with same skin color from Philippines, Malaysia or Thailand just by looking if dressed the same?

not really. most Americans know are German, Irish, Italian, Russian, Swedish, Spanish. But i don't see how any women of any country as less attractive.

The majority of Americans are of English descent and then other British isles ancestry... but they often just identify as "American" (fair enough) or "Scots-Irish" (due to ignorance).
