It has been my experience that when a woman has said we should take a break, it meant that she was exploring her options with someone else.
A break means that you both have the choice, of thinking about the relationship or seeing other people.
I don't know why women in general, think that they can tell a guy they want a break from them and set no time limit as to how long they need the break. Than expect the guy to still be waiting for them, 4 5 months a year later when you find that the options you wanted to try were not better than what you had and you out of the blue show up at his door.
When you are having problems in a relationship, you need to talk them out. Not run from them by taking a break, when most couples take a break from each other. That is just the easy way out of the relationship, for one of them. usually the female, as it is usually the females that ask for the break.
A hall pass means you can fuck whomever you want while the "pass" is in effect.
So by saying "Let's take a break" you gave him a hall pass for an unset amount of time. Which is the same thing as a break up.
So he can do whatever he wants since you're not his girlfriend anymore.

in my understanding a hall pass is something a teacher gives a child when he ir she needs to use the lavatory. so that the child can show that he has permission to be outside of the classroom during that lesson. that is what a hall pass is, isn't it?
Isn't the point of a break that you can see other people? If the break was for your sake too I don't think you have the right to be annoyed at him over this. If you expect a break from him, don't expect him to turn down women who do want to be with him.
I think there's a movie called Hall Pass if I'm not wrong. Watch it and you'll understand.
