How to know if extroverted outgoing friendly guy likes me?

(tried to post yesterday but I don't think it posted) I met this guy a month ago and we've been hanging out every weekend since then. I think he likes me, but I'm not really sure. He's incredibly outgoing, never meets a stranger kind of guy. If he were a quiet guy or even just less extroverted/talkative/friendly I would definitely say he likes me based on the usual signs, but with how much of a people person he is, I'm not sure.
Also his longtime girlfriend dumped him at the end of spring semester, so I know he's working through that. But if I knew he liked me back and there was potential for us in the future, I could live with everything that comes with his post-breakup status. I went through a really similar situation two years ago and can definitely understand what's going on in his head with that. I just wish I knew what was going on in his head about me!
What signs should I look for?

Two things.
1. How does he treat you compared to other girls? If you can see some differences, that could be a sign. Even for an extroverted person, they will treat their special people in a special way. For example, he may not necessarily do certain things for other girls, but he may do those things for you, such as gazing at you, buying things, body contacts etc. He could be more louder trying to get your attention. Does he act much differently around you?
2. If you are not sure, try to create a situation where you could ask him out on a date. For example, you could talk about a special place you'd found and ask him to join you. That place will need to be casual enough, such as a bar or a cafe. Or even a picnic. Tell him you've found a nice spot and you want to go to that place, but not on your own. If he does not respond, ask him if he would be interested in joining. If and when things go well, you can subtly make a remark along the lines of 'it feels like a date'.
