Why do girls like extremely tall men?

Question

Ok, most women like tall men, including me. But for me as long as he's at least the same height I don't care, and honestly the male average (5'9/175 cm) is perfect for me.

How come some girls only want men over 6'0/183cm? 
Do they even realize that only 14.5% of the male population is that tall? They are cutting out 85.5% of the population, it's like 60% of women fighting over 15% of men.

Do people just don't know how tall 6"0 really is? Shallow? or what?

My boyfriend is the same height as mine, i'm taller with heals. Height have never been an issue. We are all are different, i would be lying if i said i didn't find tallness attractive, but i don't care fricking care.. I'm not sexually desperate and horny for a tall guy.

At least that's the case with me and plenty of my tall friends who've actually been rejected and are approached way less simple because we're "too tall". It's kinda unfair but I guess it's just going back to this "feeling protected -> feminine"/"feeling like the protector -> masculine" -perception kinda thing which might be related to a persons height and people judge by it, many probably subconsciously but we all do..

I think if you're above 177 cm then you're fine (I'm 170 cm myself). I know I exclude some guys then but that's something I have to deal with then. Luckily, the average height of Dutch guys is 185 cm so I'm good.

Women can choose whoever they want. Like I said before its about preferences. If that's what they want let them have it. There's nothing wrong with that. Personally I would prefer around my height not too short or too tall. Why? Because of the sex. I'm gonna get a little graphic here (rated X) but the sex is better if you're about the same height. These girls are socialized to believe that being with a tall guy makes them more "feminine" and more "womanly" and whatever. I have zero clue how to relate to that idea by the way, I see no value in whether someone's partner is taller or shorter. There are different types of people in this world... there are some that are shallow, some that don't really care/doesn't matter to them, and others that are unsure what they really want.

I guess then, I am in the minority of women that doesn't care about height. I have dated more guys my height or shorter, than I have taller guys (only 2 were really tall). I mean, if I meet a guy and really like how he treats me and makes me feel, I will date him. Just because he is 6'4" or 5'4" has no impact on my decision.

I voted other. They do it because their genes and human history have brainwashed them into thinking tall=protection/health=their kids will survive threats. They're being held captive to old programming in the cave-man era that does not apply today, as all an able-bodied man has to do today is get a CCP and shoot or point a gun at a perp, not be tall enough to threaten solely using his body.

Anecdotally I know this Sicilian guy who is 5'4" that could kill with his bare hands he is that good. He is that proverbial bad-ass who would only use it when necessary, otherwise he is a pussycat. Believe me women like him!

I'm really tall so yeah I've always liked guys who are close to my height. "Extremely tall" to me is someone who's over 6'5", and that's actually way too tall for me. I think that in general, it has to do with the idea of feeling more feminine and such, and feeling "protected". It's a hard question to answer since there's not one definitive answer. Same with the opposite question: "Why do guys like short/petite women?"

Also, perception varies. Where I live, 6'0 isn't that rare. I am 5'7 and one of the shortest women in my family - even my grandmother is taller than I am! Several of my male relatives are above 6'5. So statistics are always relative in a way.

Umm... I am 165 cm (5'5'') tall and I want the guy I am with still be taller than me when I wear high heels (10+cm) to an event so the guy should be around 180cm (6 ft) or taller. I am used to tall men considering the fact that all men in my family tend to be taller than 180 cm. In fact the shortest person In my family is my cousin who is around 177cm (5'10''). They are probably really bad at judging heights from numbers indeed. I'm 5'7", and I wouldn't want to date someone too tall, around 6' would be the upper limit, ideally. But I often see 5'2" or so girls who only want a 6' guy, and it makes me go WTF every time. Like, do you even know how tall that is, and how awkward your height difference is going to be?
