Hello, me and my girlfriend are together 5 months now, but after a huge fight I feel like we don't belong together anymore. She wants to stay with me because she loves me but I don't feel as I used to. Not only that, the last 2 weeks I am having a huge crush on her best friend that we are all 3 together in the same class and we always go out together after school and have fun. I don't think there's a possibility that she might like me back, but I don't want something to happen with her because I could never do this to my girlfriend, even if we break-up. I am so confused and I don't know what to do, anyone got any advice?

ALWAYS go with your instinct. Your instinct is telling you exactly what to do here. It is time to move on.

Initially when I read you had a fight, I thought...well, maybe you are just upset and you need to give yourself time to get over things and decide how you really feel; however, if you really wanted to be with your girlfriend, you wouldn't be thinking of other girls like that. Clearly, you are finished with your girlfriend. This is going to be a tough one because you see her at school and go out after school, but you are going to have to pull the trigger and break up with her. But don't base the break-up on trying to go for this other girl. Base the break-up on the fact that you just don't feel the same for your girlfriend. You don't want to start a pattern of being someone who waits until they have someone else to run to before they break up with someone. You need to be able to stand on your own two feet without always having a new girl there to break your fall, if you know what I mean.

So, who cares if this other girl likes you? You no longer want to be with your girlfriend, so you must break-up. And I agree that you shouldn't date her best friend. I think that is wrong and hurtful. Certainly right now while things are still fresh. In time when the wounds have healed it may be right, but you will know if or when that time comes. You can't always have every girl you want, and you certainly want to show that you are a better man than one who would date his ex's best friend. How would you like it if she did that to you? I guarantee you wouldn't, especially if she was the one who broke up with you. DON'T DO IT.

But in this case, since you don't love your girlfriend anymore just break because there's no point in dragging her along and having her think everything is fine when its not. And if you don't have the guts to ask this girl that you out there's no point, because you can like this girl as much as you want but if you don't have the courage to ask her out its pointless.
