However, you have to be careful that you are not over critical of someone.

but be careful to take others feelings into consideration. It's one thing to use straight talk to help someone, it's another to cut down on their personality, maybe they are slow or take time to think, (not over think but need their space to consider things), maybe they are uncomfortable in certain situations. It's one thing to positively help someone out of their comfort zone but it is another to push them or force to do what they don't want to do or talk about. They have to be willing, to an extend, want to be helped.

With no detail, it becomes such a loaded question. A lot of times, people use those terms to defend their lack of tact. I mean, I was just telling the truth, right? So yeah, I'm not a huge fan of anyone who doesn't have any sort of filter in front of their mouth and then blames the hurt feelings or deeply offended reactions on the mental weakness of the recipient.

I agree with this entirely. People love to say "I'm direct" when I really means "I'm a jerk/bitch who uses it as an excuse to say hurtful things to people".
Directness is useful at the right time, and isn't useful 100% of the time, and quite frankly the people I've met who identify themselves as such aren't direct they are usually just a-holes

Yes, mystery has it's place, but I personally feel that has become a hackneyed excuse for women to get off lightly. Every now and again, a real man wants to hear it straight up raw, no chaser. Makes things more interesting. And comfortable for both.
