are they just trying to hit on me? i have been told this probably 5-6 times and once by a female ( straight) co worker. i'm not offended it's an awesome compliment, but i have never looked in the mirror and thought that i resemble her in any way

Guys probably say it as a pickup line or to flirt. I'd definitely take it as a compliment though. it is true, yes, but there are some differences between you and her. Also, about the whole you not seeing yourself resembling to her. Oneself doesn't always perceive themselves they way others see them.
