IMO the urge for playing hard to get is to raise his own worth. But if you're already desirable because of you're beautiful/ intelligent/ talented/ etc. where's the need to raise your worth? So do only ugly/ dumb/ untalented/ boring girls play hard to get?

No, actually I'd say it's the opposite. Unattractive girls are often easier because they typically don't get much male attention, so when they do get a guy interested, they jump at the chance because they know it won't happen very often.

Desirable girls are more likely to play hard to get because just because they're pretty doesn't mean that the guy still can't lose interest. There are a lot of pretty girls out there and a lot of easy ones too, so some girls will play hard to get to increase their value. Increasing value means that they are not a "sure thing" by guys. They make you wonder a bit and have some mystery. Not the kind of girl who has no life and is just waiting for the guy to come in and save her..girls who play hard to get are (or try to give off the impression as someone who's) got a full life and who is desirable. They don't want EVERY guy so they can afford to weed out some guys who don't want to go through the effort. A lot of guys simply lose interest in women who are easily had and no girl wants to be that girl

I think it's mostly like that, but there will always be exceptions... I used to date a girl who was beautiful, but played hard to get, she was very into mind games though, personally she didn't even think she was pretty so maybe that's why she felt the need, a lot of girls have those self esteem issues, then again there are ugly girls who think they're sexy as hell.

Playing hard to get for a man is to raise his own worth. (which is a horrible way to look at it. but hey, most guys do.)

For a woman its completely different. Typically its to retain their value, not to raise it.

Its a defense mechanism, a way to weed out losers, while simultaneously retaining their value of not coming across as easy, or a slut.

To weed out losers? those who have no self respect are the only one who want to be played with. s.o. wirth self-esteem won't take any manipulation So in the end the girl will lose the guys with self respect and only desperate or players will stick to this game.
