Whats up with the side hug?

so there is this guy that my friends and I think likes me. they say he treats me differently in a good way compared to other girls. we have noticed his doesn't stare at other girls but only me. he used to be able to approach me easily like he can with everyone else, but lately he seems more shy. everything seems to be there for him to like me, but he gave me a side hug when saying bye one day. I thought he liked me, but I don't get why he would just give a side hug if he liked me. side hugs seem to be a hug you give someone you don't like. I don't know maybe I'm wrong. could he still like me?

He totally likes you, and the fact that the hugs are awkward seems to seal the deal. When my man and I first started dating he gave me a few bizarrely puzzling half-hugs too. I think he really just wants to get close to you anyway he can but isn't sure if you want him to go in for a kiss.

All hope is not lost, give it time and he'll be slobbering like a puppy all over you one of these days. :)

It seems like he could. He's afraid that too much of a display of affection would freak you out and drive you off. And in a twisted way, his caution is driving you away. You will have to make the first move on this one if you really want this guy, he's too afraid to initiate anything at the moment.
