What does it mean when a guy holds your hand?

well the other night this guy I like came over and me, him and a few other people we're watching some stuff on the net, so everyone sat on the couch and me and him had to sit on the floor on the side of the couch, but we were kneeling...he was behind me gently pulling me close to him, holding me and holding my hands, and playing with my finger tips? what does this mean?
