This guy keeps asking me what I'm up to?

Okay, so he's one of my close friends. We hang out pretty much every other day, usually by him calling me and asking me if I want to hang out (we hang out in groups and alone), so he doesn't hate me.

But every time we hang out he asks me what I've been up to that day, or if I have plans for the weekend. He doesn't do that to any of our other friends. Do you think it means anything? I'm wondering if he basically has nothing else to say, and I'm really boring, or something. I guess I don't mind him asking, but should I try to be more interesting and stuff?

Mybae he's just really boring and can't think of anything good to say to you. So he just makes small talk with you to try and start a conversation. I do that all the time,even if I know what the person did that day.

If he's asking you if you have plans, he is trying to get a date.

So if I want to go on a date with him, how do I respond?

Say something about how you don't have any plans, and you wish someone would take you somewhere.

"I don't have any plans, do you? I'm going to be so bored. Maybe we could hang out?" That kind of thing.

Oh good idea. just realized, he's out of town and he still asked me the same question via IM. um.. does that mean he's not trying to get a date? lol

That is a little weird, but I wouldn't say one occasion invalidates the rest of the evidence

I wouldn't be to worried about it. It happens to me once in a while because its just a conversation starter. If a guy asks you what you did today its not to be mean its just to see if there is anything cool you did so you both can talk about
