Basic sociological effect. Tell me, what makes you more curious:
1. Girl in a sexy bikini/lingerie
2. Naked girl
You know exacly what you want from a girl/boy, but the human brain releases more hormones when it has to picture perfection, meaning that if you experience number 1, your brain will tease an image of perfection, solely crafted by you, instantly.
Apply the same principle to your question and you understand why people use this everyday when dating.
Is it practic? No.
Is it smart? No.
Does it help the disadvantaged part to craft a meticulously misterious image? Yes.

Bad advice, personal biases, and just bad ideas and misunderstanding!! Those are the reasons, those STUPID GAMES, and 'Keeping Score' that ruin so many relationships!!
I think it's always easy to like someone form a crush and nowadays people throw I love you around like hello so really it's become nothing but words so playing games with the guy/girl you like allows most to experience they're behavior motives without actually getting into a relationship with them and them not be who you thought they were or you just end up getting hurt so it's more like my time and feelings are spared bc I didn't get in really deep with this person or people just do it just to do it no real reason they simply don't care
to see if they know u like them thats why and to get u thinking about them

Cause that's not as devastating as facing a rejection.
That's because they are immature and childish.
Because they don't want their crushes to know
