Do girls get quiet around guys they don't like?

There is a girl who is normally pretty flirty and loud who is so quiet around me when we are one on one. She almost whispers and mumbles. When we are in a group she teases me and will go out of her way to help me. Even if someone else already is. She also gets uncomfortable when I talk to other girls. And goes quiet and seems to eavesdrop if I am talking about another girl to someone. She claims she doesn't like me that way.

But anyway why is she so quiet I thought we were friends?

I will note she has never dated anyone and seems like she hasn't had much experience with guys. Kind of an awkward girl.

If they feel awkward around not someone, for whatever reason, they will go quiet.

If I really like a guy, I tend to become more animated around him. If I don't want to talk to him, or if I think that he may not want to talk to me, I'll go quiet.

The best way to really tell is to see how much she looks at you. A shy girl will glance at you and then look away repeatedly.
A girl who isn't interested, or doesn't like, or want to talk to you will avoid eye contact completely.
