This girl flirts with me but she says she doesn't like me.

This girl I go to school with flirts with me all the time out of school when we hang out. She has said flat out that she doesn't like me, but I think *hope* I am growing on her.

I don't understand her. She plays games with me all the time. It really drives me crazy. Someone said I should give her an ultimatum, but I don't want to loose our friendship. I just want to be really close friends and I think that it is already happening, but I don't understand why she flirts with me.

It makes me uncomfortable, because I try and not look because I don't want to lust for her as I know it will lead to disappointment, but she flirts with me and stuff.

What do I do?

When a girl flirts with you openly, that means she sees herself as above you socially and that you're just a fan.

If a girl E V E R tells you she doesn't like you, it's probably the most honest thing she's ever said/done to you.

What she's doing is being an asshole. Period. There's no such thing as a "flirty type" of girl, only low self esteem girls that need fans just to get by day to day. These girls cannot keep friends, and DAMN SURE AS HELL can't keep boyfriends. She knows absolutely positively E X A C T L Y how you feel about her and she will allow you to torture yourself and feed her ego because "it's not her fault you're too weak to walk away."

Bottom line, scram. She reveals her cards and you're only further pussifying yourself more and more by thinking you have a chance. You have a 0.0% chance with this girl dude. Move on bro.

Been in a similar boat...in all a friendship isn't a conscious decision. Personally I couldn't stop being friends with someone becuase they also have feelings, while there usually is a quiet period the friendship still remains so I think in all you have nothing to loose in saying something. Like any other girl you'll either succeed or be denied...but if you feel your growing on her I guess it's the timing which is where I'm stuck atm.

There are a few possibilities:

If you see her flirting with other guys: She's just the flirty type, she flirts with everyone and that's how she communicates. She probably doesn't know she's doing it.

OR if she's kind of mean: She's purposely toying with your emotions to see a reaction. Like a troll at heart (and I mean that in the internet lingo sense, not the mythical creature), she gets a kick out of starting havoc and drama just to watch people freak out.

OR if she's the shyish type: She say's she doesn't like you because she's shy or not ready for a relationship yet, or she wants you to ask her out.

I don't know her that well, so you'll have to decided.

She sounds kinda mean. It's not fair to you, especially if she KNOWS you like her, for her to keep flirting. But then again, some people are natural flirts and don't necessarily realize they are flirting. She could be flirty with a lot of people. If her friendship means a lot to you, which it obviously does, talk to her. Tell her she is making you uncomfortable.
