My guy friend is overprotective of me?

i have this guy friend that I'm really close to and he's awfully protective of me. We were at a party, and my other friend and I wanted to prank the rest of them by mysteriously disappearing. since we were there first. His first reaction to when I was gone was to call me. he called me 3 times, and when I didn't answer he assumed that I went to do something else. When I asked him what he had felt, was that something really happened to me, that's why he kept calling, then he thought for awhile and realized that I must've went and done something stupid. Another thing that happened was that we were playing this game, and the penalty was to drink water. and almost everyone of our bladders were about to burst. When it came to my turn, I had to drink the remaining water in the bottle. it wasn't the small ones, it was the big ones. I looked at it and I'm like =O. so he told me to drink like 1/4 of it and he finished the rest of it for me. I was also really down once and wanted to quit school but he constantly called to talk me out of it. and he also mentioned something like if he were god he would do anything for me. is he just being nice, or something? because I'm confused

Honestly I think he's just being a good guy friend, the party thing makes sense because a lot of bad things can happen to girls at parties so its understandable that he kind of freaked when you just up and vanished I mean you never know what can go down. That and with the water thing he was probably just trying to look a little bad ass even if it is water it's a guy thing lol and sh*t I mean any good friend will try and talk someone out of dropping out of school he was helping you make a good choice but if your honestly confused and aren't totally sure really think about it and try and see if sometimes he's a little too touchy or wanting to be super close or make it simple and ask

He's either being a good friend or he has feelings for you. I've been that way before for a girl (not as overbearing as he seems, but I felt protective). Just ask him, it's the easiest way to clear up your confusion. What are your feelings towards him?

i just like him as a friend, he has liked another girl before but she rejected him, and he's over it. but I was there when it all happened if it makes a difference

Well like I said just ask him and make sure he knows that you only see him as a friend. It'll prevent him from being led on and from experience this will save a lot of doubt and confusion on both sides. Also, if you feel the need, tell him to give you some space as far as the overprotection goes.
