I enjoy it and even one that gets ever-so-slightly mean-spirited towards each other. Well, I figure if two people can insult each other with a smile on their face, that's really genuine and affectionate. I prefer that to a girl who just agrees with everything I say which will start to make me question her sincerity at some point.

  I also like the thick-skinned ones. So if I can make a slight jab (still tactful to some degree if I calculated correctly), and she can jab at me back, still smiling and obviously into each other, then it shows me she's not one of those overly delicate and sensitive types prone to get offended over a humorous remark. And that's certainly something I highly value in a relationship.

I LOVE banter. If a girl can banter back and forth with me while we’re flirting, I’m immediately interested. Banter was what got me interested in my current girlfriend.

No, not really. I engage in banter when necessary, but I could honestly do without it. In my opinion, banter, i. e. small talk, is basically just the WD-40 to get the "ball" rolling from A to B. It's like putting on YouTube in the background while you're doing your thing; modern people--especially Millennials, who have grown up in fast-paced, loud environments--have REAL difficulty with quiet time, so passive noise is generally preferable to active silence.

When people say "yes", my suspicion is that they "like" it like they enjoy crowded streets: it's probably not true on it's own, but you have to get used to it or even have fun with it, in order to adapt to the situation. It's kind of social Stockholm syndrome.
