How do you deal with men flirting with you to pass time at work but it means nothing to them?

Because to me it often does mean something. Sometimes it causes me to get hopes up to some level or sometimes it even leads to me being very very heartbroken and crying deeply at home to myself.
When I ask questions about why guys at work flirt whether its just complimenting me a lot unwarranted or straight up mentioning hanging out outside of work or dating or whether its them giving me so much attention for no reason like staring in my eyes and flirting etc i think you get the idea... I dont think i am imagining flirting. I dont dress sexy or go out my way to flirt with people so i dont think its warranted that guys come to me, flirt and then never follow up with setting up a date.
One guy even had a girlfriend and i never knew until like months into hs heavy flirting. And i mean HEAVY flirting. He tried to hang out multiple times. I just rejected it cause he wanted to drink and smoke which i dont do.

So yeah the original question is that I get hurt by flirting. I am a very sensitive and deeply emotional person. What means nothing to someone to do or say to me means a lot to me. So i get that people will say 'oh its just flirting and means nothing, dont take i serious' but for me... thats not the case. And our actions and words effect others.

I am the same... Even Flirting means "something" to me... like usually i mean every word that i talk with a woman.. i know how you feel, what i would suggest, just play them same cards... Flirt with them, have Fun, and and if you see that "something is getting out of hand or too serious" just tell them... I was just Flirting!
