Date the average guy over the really good looking guy?

So you read all the time that looks don't matter as much as personality. However, you still always see, "I'd like my date to be x, y, and z and other look based qualities." Therefore, I'd like to know when you'd chose the average looking guy over the really good looking guy?

There are two choices.

A) The really good looking guy, pick your favorite hunk celebrity (Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp, etc)

B) An average looking guy, average build, and to keep things interesting let's say he's below average male height of 5'10" (since I always see how women want taller man).

You can phrase your answer in saying, "If guy A was a jerk, I'd date guy B," or "I'd date guy B if he was a nice guy."

Be detailed in your response please. And we can avoid the obvious statements along the lines, "If guy A was a criminal, etc." Also, while funny is fine, I'd like to keep this as serious as possible. So obviously, "If guy A died, I'd date guy B" would be an answer, but not very helpful.

You can also include physical traits, but only if they don't have to do directly with his outward appearance since we've already established that guy A will be better looking than guy B.

Oh there are many things that would cause me to pick guy B. If guy A was insecure, cocky, shy, immature, unintelligent, and lacked a sense of humor I would pick guy B. Under the circumstance of course that I was still attracted to guy B. I don't think guys realize the power that a personality has on how attractive a guy is to us. I can meet two guys, thinking one is clearly hotter than the other. And then once I get to know them and see that the hotter one is an insecure jerk who can be a little creepy, rude, immature, etc. But the other guy seems confident, nice, fun, and mature, I will think the opposite. The second guy will seem more physically attractive from that point on.

Same here. I don't go for the overly hot guys. I go for the average Joes, but even I find the average Joes attractive. The problem is when they don't see it themselves. It's like, "Ugh, what's it take to talk to a guy with confidence." I met a lot of good-looking guys that are empty shells. They have nothing to talk about. The OK looking guys are thes ones that peek my interest. I admire their personality, but guess what? They are the averages Joes stuck in their own insecurity. I never win.

I would pick choice B. who cares how good looking someone is if they are a self -centered jerk. I like guys who have a good personality and cares about others as much or if not more than he does himself. if he is honest, faithful and trustworthy. he is a catch for me. while good looks are a plus. it really is what is inside that matters to me.

I am dating guy B. He's only 5'6" and while I think he is pretty good looking, he's no Brad Pitt. Plus I adore his personality so that makes him more attractive to me. He's a really nice guy and he's perfect for me, that's why I'm with him :) I don't want anybody but him, I don't care how much better looking they may be.

Most girls like most guys chose average over the really good looking because:

they settle for average

go after average because they are afraid of rejection or lack the looks/skills to get a hot girl

they honestly value personality over looks

I think I've only dated/fallen for guy B. None of them have been too attractive to anyone other than me. (everyone even called the one Peter predigrue from Harry Potter because he looked like a talker shaved version of him) So basically, if I fell for guy B I'd pick him over Guy A no matter the looks, because if I fell for guy B he is good looking hunk to me(:
