Do girls at the gym understand guys won't ask them out?

like if you like a guy at the gym, and think he's cute do girls understand its their job to approach him if they like him more than pretty much anywhere in society? personally I would never approach a girl at the gym because people are already self conscious enough at the gym I don't want to make it worse. ill make eye contact once but then avoid it, guys staring at girls in the gym is really rude I think. there's plenty of girls at the gym I know think I'm who think I'm good looking/fit, and I want them to ask me out. normally at the bar or where ever I would take the initiative and do the approaching. so, do girls know this?

You treat picking up a girl at the gym just as you would anywhere else! Approach casually with a smile and don't be a sexual asshole! I am a hot chick that works out six days a week and I would never ask out my crush! I drop obvious hints that I like him without actually telling him that and so far it is working. If you avoid eye contact, she'll assume your not interested and you'll never get her attention. I think the answers in this question totally misunderstood the question. I get what you're saying and agree... I think a lot of guys find it sleazy to approach a girl because they dont' want to be 'that guy"... I've even overheard guys at the gym say something along the lines of what you said... as a girl I wouldn't mind being approached so long as the man wasn't creepy as hell dressed to go to a club... haha

I actually do my best to avoid connections at the gym. I'll look, I'll even share eye contact, but you're at my gym. I try to avoid dating men who frequent the same places as myself, especially the gym. So, some of us do get it, we just don't want it.

I don't know why, I guess I've heard too many stories about women saying "Then some guy tried to hit on me at the gym..." Makes me not to bother them. They're there to workout and I'm sure they don't want to be bothered. Plus it doesn't really seem to make me look very good. I mean, a girl goes to the gym to get a better body- which makes me think that any girl would wonder if a guy approaching her in a gym was interested in more than her body.

People approach others all the time because of how they look, but it's just that the gym has a different vibe to it.
