Girls think I'm intimidating?

So last year I found out from a girl at a party that quite a few girls think I'm attractive yet they think I am intimidating. I have never done anything to any of the girls for them to think that. What exactly does it mean if a girl finds you intimidating in your own opinion?

I'm intimidated by the guy I've been seeing. I know that sounds silly, but it's basically because he's really just too attractive, and he's good at everything. And with my learning experience with other girls, usually they do call a guy intimidating when he's just an all-star at (most of) everything he does and he's super attractive.

Guys tend to think when they're called 'intimidating', it's a bad thing. But it's almost a compliment, really. It isn't a negative term, it's just a lot of people think of 'intimidating' as a synonym for aggressive. It's not.

I've read several responses and I'm still confused.

I'm at a strip club one night. I brought a colleague with me. His finances were less than he'd preferred, so I paid for the evening.

After the first set of dancers finished their set, , 2 of them came to our table and stood right next to my colleague. They just started talking to him as if I wasn't there. After several minutes I finally asked, "What's wrong with me?"

Another dancer several feet away answered, "You're intimidating!"

To this day I still have no clue why she would even say that. I was laughing, smiling, having fun and all that.

Many years later I was seeing an acupuncturist, babe and a half. Tall, blonde, fit and just gorgeous. I overheard her telling her co-worker I'm harmless. I know she was talking about me because I was chatting with the receptionist, not flirting, when she walked in and said it.

So, if I was confused about being called intimidating by an exotic dancer, imagine what my brain did after hearing I'm harmless from a babe.

So, how can a man tell if he's intimidating just sitting around having fun or if he is, as you've said, attractive?

I get her response, but it really didn't give as straight an answer as I've been looking for. I can say with absolute certainty, I'm socially awkward when I'm out by myself and am uncomfortable with trying to start a conversation with women. However, if a woman comes to me and breaks the ice, I'm as open as I can possibly think of.

I guess what I'm really asking is, can a guy be that attractive women are intimated by him or explain how just being themselves, as in my exotic dancer example, they can be less intimidating.

In my opinion, it means that the guy is very attractive and seems like he's 'out of my league'. Honestly, it's a self esteem issue with the girl. I've only ever had this feeling of intimidation from one guy and that's what it resulted from. I'd say chin up, because the right girl won't get intimidated by you :)

"Intimidating" can mean a lot of things when we're talking about human interactions.

In your case, girls think you're "intimidating" because a lot of them think that you're too good for them. I know for a fact that this sometimes happens because some girls used to tell me that. The way to get around that is to treat them as an equal; be down-to-earth, fun to be with and, most importantly, focus on them if you're really interested in them. Show them hints of your intent if you're serious.

Depends on the man and if he has confidence or if he is built real nice. It also depends if the woman has insecurities of herself.
If he has confidence and he is also good looking, that can be intimidating. If she has insecurities or low self esteem, that's another reason why she scared.

Overall you probably are very attractive and have confidence.

Aww, you must be a pretty sweet guy then!
Sometimes people are intimidated by really nice people. Ironic, isn't it?!
Maybe its because they feel inferior for whatever reason, or they struggle with getting the courage to talk to you. Its really beyond me.

Simple, he is very handsome, probably confident but not in a cocky way, has a killer smile and is just perfect in every sense of the word...i.e. out of my league. If he is clearly out of my league, I'll be highly intimidated and avoid him. I just am saving myself the embarrassment of being rejected, or making a fool of myself by even conceiving he'd give me the time of day. I'd rather admire from afar.

It is possible for a guy to be too hott, too smart, too amazing, that a girl thinks she can never get that guy, so that's intimidating. I definitely feel that with guys. If he's too (insert positive thing here) id think he wouldn't go for someone like me, resulting me being intimidated by him. Especially if he doesn't talk to me.

Usually it's a guy who is really outgoing, social, everyone loves him, really good looking, confident, just top of the line guy. That's a bit intimidating...

When you are good looking, confident and really stand out in the crowd. She would think that she has no chance with you. It has nothing to do with you.

yeah I agree with her, it could also be that you are naturally intimidating for a number of reasons that I can think of:

-Intimidating Tattoos

-Piercings

-if you have a naturally somber face

-If your too muscled your size could be intimidating to some.

- or if you wear too much black...

If any of those apply to you, you could just approach women and show them that your not as intimidating as you look.
