Would this pick up line work on a guy?

I have a crush on a guy in my Chemistry course at uni, would it be too much to ask him out by saying, "I feel like an alkali metal wherever I'm around you" An alkali metal is one of the most reactive metals, when it comes in contact with air or water it fizzes and comes alight. Additionally as it has a lone electron in its outer shell, b hence it wants to form a bond. As a fellow Chemistry major he'd understand, right? Or is it too cheesy?

Ummm sounds really really nerdy if you ask me. I don't know him though so maybe he'd get it but most guys def would think "wth is with this girl". It also really depends on how attractive you are and your vibe in your delivery. A lot of guys will say it just depends on how attractive you are but there's def more to it than that.

I personally would say something like, "Hey we have a class together. You know what we have together right?"
After a slight pause say "We have chemistry. Can you feel it? " OR
just wait and he should respond with something like "Chemistry" and you could be like "oh ok so you feel it too"

If it doesn't work out with this guy, I have something similar for situations to start a flirty conversation whether they go to your school or not but it would be a little weird if he's actually in your chemistry class.

"Hey, don't you go to (whatever school)?"
Usually you'll get something like "No, do I look like someone from there?"
"Yeah, I could've sworn we had chemistry."

If they respond with "yes", you go "I knew it. we had a class together."
"Which class?"
"We had chemistry. I think we still do. It's like an ongoing class"

As someone who has studied chemistry, my response would be either of below
1. You feel basic? You need some water to dilute you and reduce your pH?
2. Are you drunk? (I think that OH is a part of every alcoholic beverage (ethanol) and OH- ions are basic in nature)
3. Get this chick some sodium (to form sodium hydroxide)

If that's your true feeling, then I'd say to go for it. I think it's incredibly cheesy and I tend to prefer a more straightforward approach personally, but you have to gamble if you want to win. If you're gambling on a keeper, you don't seek to impress so much as seek to discover who likes your nerdy and cheesy self.
