It's not weird at all. It's actually quite common. In fact, one of my cousins met her boyfriend through her older brother, so good luck! I'd think about running it past your brother first. Not necessarily for your brother's "permission", but since it's his friend, he may know things about him that you don't know, and it may change how you feel about him.
