Should I approach her friend first before approaching her?

So guys, her friend is a friend of mine. But I'm very shy and find l could not approach her. Should I ask her friend something about her that will give her a hint that I like her. Please give your opinion.

I think its okay to ask your friend to tell you a little about her but dont have her be the messenger. You have to be the one to go up to her and let her know how you feel, coming from your own mouth.

But what's the difference between telling her friend and telling her. Both ways she'll find out you like her. I think she would appreciate it more if you just told her.

I mean it's completely understandable that you would like to know if she is single before approaching her, but the thing is her friend will most likely her you that you were asking about her/that you are interested in her. I think most girls would appreciate it more if you would just be straightforward about it.
