If you aren't romantically or sexually attracted to someone then immediately say "no" and then end of conversation.
"Ripping the band-aid off" immediately, is far better than giving out a number and allowing/letting that person think they have a chance with you.

As a woman? Give him a reason, true or not, that you can't date him. "Sorry, I'm seeing someone." "Sorry, between work and school I don't have time to date." "Sorry, I've decided to focus on school this year." He can't argue with reasons like those, and you haven't directly rejected him.

Simple! You give them a fake number. Your primary objective here must be to get away from the person as soon as possible without the person following you. So you must satisfy the person and at the same time get out of the way.

If the person tries to verify it, just say that it is a personal number and it is switched off for now, as it is at home.

The one in your hand is a business number and it cannot be shared with anyone right now.

"No". I mean if I'm not comfortable with giving someone my phone number I have no problem telling them just that. If they press me on it I guarantee you they will do the opposite of helping their case. At that point they're just attempting to bully me. It doesn't matter what their reasoning is.

You can give me yours instead. That's what my cousin did when guys hit on her. If she wasn't interested and they wanted her number, she said she won't give them her number, but they can give her their's. Last time she visited while single she got 50 numbers in 5 days.

Politely decline and ask why they want it before doing so.

If they were interested in a long term relationship, I'd discuss it with them and the chances are we'd have different long term goals and it would end before it started.

Flatout reject, propose an alternative i am comfortable with if they do want to add me or write down a fake number in case i am forced. Like with the lockdown measures i'd leave digits out so people couldn't steal my number.
