+1 yJust say "no thank you" straight away.
If you aren't romantically or sexually attracted to someone then immediately say "no" and then end of conversation.
"Ripping the band-aid off" immediately, is far better than giving out a number and allowing/letting that person think they have a chance with you.22 Reply- +1 y

"Sorry, I've decided to focus on school this year." He can't argue with reasons like those, and you haven't directly rejected him.

21 Reply You have to be honest but I tell them is look that is the only private thing that I have in my life and I want to try to keep it that way apologize but that is my rule you can give me your phone number if you want to but I'm sorry I just don't give my phone number out

+1 ySimple! You give them a fake number. Your primary objective here must be to get away from the person as soon as possible without the person following you. So you must satisfy the person and at the same time get out of the way.
If the person tries to verify it, just say that it is a personal number and it is switched off for now, as it is at home.
The one in your hand is a business number and it cannot be shared with anyone right now.11 Reply- +1 y
I was reading a novel and in that novel, the person was teaching robbery. Taking a thing from a pocket and running is not a good idea as you expose yourself as the robber.
Taking the thing and replacing it with a similar (dimensions and weight) unimportant random thing will give you the time to ghost, and the person will find it much later.
The opinion was inspired from this teaching.

If they press me on it I guarantee you they will do the opposite of helping their case. At that point they're just attempting to bully me. It doesn't matter what their reasoning is.
10 ReplyYou can give me yours instead. That's what my cousin did when guys hit on her. If she wasn't interested and they wanted her number, she said she won't give them her number, but they can give her their's. Last time she visited while single she got 50 numbers in 5 days.

+1 yI would ask why and that immediately signs that I'm not interested. But never had to say because if anyone asked for my number I've given it so far. No creepy weird experiences so far

Well they don't know that you don't like them before you say so. Do they?
+1 yPolitely decline and ask why they want it before doing so.
If they were interested in a long term relationship, I'd discuss it with them and the chances are we'd have different long term goals and it would end before it started.10 ReplyFlatout reject, propose an alternative i am comfortable with if they do want to add me or write down a fake number in case i am forced. Like with the lockdown measures i'd leave digits out so people couldn't steal my number.

+1 yMy response was "No thanks.". when she asked for my number. People really need to learn that "No." is a complete sentence. There's no need to think of excuses.
10 ReplyI mean there are loads of things I could do, give her a fake number, give them somebody else number, but why why get their hopes up, just say sorry I'm not interested.

+1 yWhy do you have to be attracted to someone to be friends?
01 Reply- +1 y
I’ve given out my number before to guys if they just seemed interesting and I wouldn’t mind being friends with them. But they always started asking me on dates, getting jealous if they thought I might be with another guy, and just wanting more in general. So I’ve learned that guys are never okay with just being friends.
