What to say when texting with a guy and the conversation is going well, but we don't really know what to say?

I'm messaging this guy I just met and we've had really conversation, but this morning he texted hey, morning, and I responded, we both sent an awkward giff, but now I don't know what to send. He sent me a text just saying " hahaha" to my stupid giff, but I don't know what to respond back to that with.

If there’s nothing to say then I wouldn’t fish for things. Of course you’d like to keep the conversation going but if it isn’t flowing naturally then don’t force it. I’ve had boyfriends where we could easily ping pong conversations all day every day, and others where I felt the need to google topics and questions because I ran out of material. Now I realize it’s just unnecessary legwork and may be blocking a big red flag and it’s that we didn’t have much to talk about. With my current boyfriend we check in here and there throughout the day, but also see each other often so not texting so much doesn’t feel weird.

Don't say anything when you don't have anything on your mind. Conversation like this needs to be natural and random. No need to think, overthink or plan what to type or reply.
If you don't want to stop your conversation now but no more else to say, let it be. Because later on or tomorrow or the following day he will text you again if he really is into you, so don't worry.
