Is it weird for a married man to send you a kissy face emoji?

There's a guy I work with who is married. He's like a brother to me, but a couple of times lately he's sent me the kissy face emoji online, the one with the tiny heart. Is this weird for a married man to do or is it just being friendly? I've thought about telling him it might not be appropriate, but I don't want to say it if it's done innocently.
