How do you handle it diplomatically if you are a lesbian and a straight female flirts with you?

I only flirt with women I know I have a chance with other lesbian or bi women. There is a straight who flirts sometimes she just has a flirty nature. I think she is a great person I just don’t want to develop any romantic feelings towards her nor do I want her to get wrong impression I am interested in her. How do you stop this? She doesn’t know I am a lesbian and if she knows things will just be weird.

Basically, just don't act on those feelings. Simple. Don't tell her you are into her or that you have those romantic feelings. Just act normal. Surely at the age of 37 you have some level of self control, no?

It really shouldn't be that hard to control yourself around this friend of yours. Also think about what it could do to the friendship. It could ruin it and you could lose all contact with this person. Is it worth it? I don't think so.

So, just be yourself, don't flirt and no need to bring up your sexuality unless asked and you feel comfortable sharing. You may want to jump on over to that link I provided and ask that user how she is dealing with it.

The two of you may be able to sort things out amongst each other better than we can give advice.

Thanks. I’m gonna check It out. I just came out last year was in closet 36 years. I am totally new to dating women so this advice is helpful to me. I have been in situations like this before and I have enough self control to not act on my feelings.

Just tell her you feel uncomfortable when she flirts with you. Be specific, describe what makes you uncomfortable and ask her to stop doing it to you.

No need to bring sexuality into it, it's just about behaviour.
