Because dude hot girls will never approach you eveerr, even if you are a model. To them you are just another one of the flock and they can change you pretty easily with some other guy that might be just as good as you. Hot chicks can get away with a lot of stuff and that is one thing, they don't have to approach because they know men will always approach them on a good or a bad day...
well... good luck, buddy...you're standards seem to be way too high, by the way you said this...try not to be so shallow, and respect someone for who they are. If you wouldn't be so shallow, you might just realize that what you currently consider "average" is actually something beautiful...get over yourself.
You know I used to feel the same way. Only I found out that the average guy I was best friends with is the love of my life. Not the hot guys I dated that were always on the prowl for the next hottest person.
Most probably they also see you as average looking, that's why they approach you.
