Married guy at work is avoiding me because we have chemistry and he’s attracted to me. How to get to a place where we can be comfortable coworkers?

Basically as stated, just joined a new team and met this guy. Things picked up quickly between us, like right off the bat chemistry and wanting to get to know each other. He’d dm me throughout the day, have video chats, and there was some flirting. Then this weekend I found out he’s married by Facebook search. I sent an obvious flirty message Friday of which he reciprocated. Now it’s Monday and I can tell he’s avoiding me and he suddenly is taking half the week off just to “use of some vacation hours because why not” but I sense something is because of me. Maybe I’m wrong but I honestly don’t think so. I really like this guy in general and would like to be friends, is there a way to just back up and make it lighter?
