So there’s a guy I like, at the gym. He might be leaving soon. when I walk in sometimes we make eye contact or he looks over. I’ve caught him looking over too when I walked out of a room. He’s helped me a time or two with machines but seemed a little awkward. I’m unsure if I want to approach him or not

As a male, my opinion is if he does it regularly and locks eyes on you for a few seconds or longer, or even gives you a little smirk and then the eyes move away slowly.

This would be a definite yes from me because this is what I do when I look at somone really attractive.
If eyes hold and they look a few times is a yes, and perhaps like a different nice cologne or something, also if he's working out and the body is fully faced towards you that's a pretty good indicator, or he might finish 5 minutes after you leave to get one last look at you for the night.
