If we're not "dating", but like each other, why did she joke about "finally trying to kiss her"?

We're not dating, because, whatever reason she's giving, i dk, but, we do like each other and she'll even say the big LO word as well. I won't though, for many reasons.

However, a few months ago, we finally kissed. Never been on a date before, like i said, but, we finally did.

I told her I had a couple surprises, one being my new car, and the other something more for her, sort of, but yeah. I was going to give it to her in the car, and I did but, before we had gotten in the car, she says "is the surprise that you're going to finally try and kiss me/make a move on me (said while giggling)". Again, we already knew we like each other, she's just being flirty. I said "maybe". We went out to the car and I gave her the original surprise (id rather not say what it is, since it's a little bit private), however, before I did, i said "well, i wasn't planning on it, but, we should kiss for the first time". She smiles and says "ok, lets do it". So we did and we both sort of giggled to each other, of course since it was our first kiss, so it's always a little "silly", right?

But what doesn't make sense to me is, if she doesn't want to date, then why did she ask if that was the surprise? (especially since she'll say the LO word)
