What’s the difference between a guy saying “You look good” vs calling you pretty or beautiful?

You look good is the guy checking you out, too to toe, and appreciating what he sees. It’s a sign he’s missed you and you look good to him.

Beautiful is a little more fleeting. You took his breath away in a moment and you’re just radiant and desirable to him in that moment.

Pretty is similar to the beautiful effect, though how it’s used in the US vs UK or in other languages varies quite a lot.

I think you look good can often be said in a casual non romantic way. If a coworker has a big meeting and she's nervous about her looks or something saying relax you look good can be a casual compliment. Calling someone pretty or beautiful generally has a romantic connection to it

I think it’s splitting hairs. Guys don’t necessarily have a universal language for how they describe a woman’s attractiveness. They are all compliments.

It is all referring to a woman's physical beauty, her facial features, hairstyle/hair length, overall physique etc.

If a man only says a woman looks good it means she looks fine but not really appealing in any way but he says because the woman maybe well behaved, humble etc.

If a man says she looks pretty which means the woman must be appealing to his sense (eyes/mind) to some extent.

If a man says she looks gorgeous/beautiful which means the man is likely smitten by her physical beauty like she must have really attractive facial features, cheeks, eyebrows, eyes, lips and maybe they are thin or pointed and well maintained hairstyle all this combined with toned physique.

It depends on what really appeals to a man. The definition of good looking, pretty, beautiful and gorgeous can also be subjective to a man as well.

For eg, my definition of a gorgeous woman may differ from another man's definition of the same.

I feel like "you look good" is a more platonic compliment most of the time, and sometimes people mean that you look healthy or happy or well-dressed. "Beautiful" is possibly more often meant to indicate attraction, though that is also context dependent of course.

Personally, “you look good” means genuine admiration. Same as pretty. If I use the word beautiful, it is usually a lie. Because my general personality is understated so if I use more colourful language it is hyperbole.
