Do you think this guy I share a niche hobby with is actually flirting with me?

He and I both are part of a sport called Iaido, which is the is the art of drawing real metal Japanese swords in order to attack an imaginary opponent quickly and efficiently.

Anyway, for context he’s in his early forties, I’m 35. He’s been married before, I haven’t. He’s also dated other female members of the dojo in the past and these relationships didn’t work out. Neither of us have children. I’m fairly tall, he’s a bit shorter than me. I don’t care about height in men, he’s also balding and fairly chubby around the belly which I don’t care about. I find him attractive for his skills and achievements and that he’s intelligent. I am about six feet tall, fairly pale with a curvy but not overweight body type.

He’s done some very kind things for me, seems concerned about my well being and compliments me every time he gets the chance to. We go to a seminar every year for Iaido and the first year we were both there he bought me a book from our yearly auction, going out of his way to buy it from the bidder who won it because I was outbid and then hid it in my bag. In order to achieve a rank we perform in front of a panel of judges and he insisted on having me use the stopwatch and time the contenders which really upset another girl from our dojo he used to date since she’s asked multiple times to do that in the past and was told by him that she needed to be a high enough rank which obviously wasn’t true because I had no rank at the time. She was so upset she cried, which was awkward.

He’s ranked high enough that he’s technically my sensei and in the past had touched my hands with a gentle sensuality while showing me how to hold and use the sword but was told not to do that by the head sensei immediately afterward. He also seems to think I’m hilarious and a skilled writer.

I get the impression that he’s flirting with me somewhat subtly but I could be wrong, obviously. Just curious if this leaves any sort of impression on others in this forum.
