Yes, flirting can become an addiction for some people. This behavior may stem from a need for validation, attention, or excitement, creating a cycle where the person seeks out the thrill of flirting to boost their self-esteem or to escape boredom. For those addicted, flirting can provide a temporary sense of accomplishment or power, making it difficult to stop even if it negatively impacts their relationships or self-worth. Like other addictive behaviors, it can become compulsive, driven by an underlying emotional or psychological need. Addressing this issue often involves understanding the root causes and finding healthier ways to meet those needs.

Addiction implies urge to engage in a certain behavior while it harms you substantially.

As such, reading books, sewing and cooking are possibly addictions, if, for instance, it makes you stop paying your bills, renders you inapt to social contact, or skip meals. As @dustybiker2 and @Nikki1989 said, flirting can very well be a perception from the receiver, not a fact, not intended by the emitter. As @DrPepper12 said it is thrilling to flirt, it is rewarding, it is commonly used to rebuild self-esteem after a breakup for example.

Possibly. I’ve never thought about it, tbh. Would love a week to do some recon and find out!

Not an addiction, some people are just naturally flirty :) It’s as natural for them as blinking

I would say it is. Some people get a high from it. They get a dopamine rush and an ego boost when they successfully entrance the person they're flirting with. For some they see it as exciting and some do it for stress relief.

I personally don't like flirting not that I can even if I tried 😂

Not sure about an addiction , but it definitely can be a habit or a trait that someone gets off on , or if they are very social , a lot of times flirting gets mistaken for friendliness

Women have an evolutionary adaptation to crave attention and emotional attachment, and also if there are certain type of person they really like excitement which flirting produces. So yes a person can certainly become addicted to it, in the sense that it can be problematic for their relationships but they can't stop doing it.

No, but I think for some people, being flirty just comes naturally. I am accused of flirting all the time, but that is never my intention.

I'd say some folks out there possibly are and possibly I'd speculate have issues/reasons why they behave the way they do.
I for one have merrily by choice given up dating/flirting now that I turned 30 this year, so I'm quite enjoying my daydreams and being able to in my mind poke fun at other people's shortcomings in relationships/etc lol 😂😆 yet not on the cruel or mean-spirited level that is sensationalist journalism or anything.

I was friends with a Guy in school who was fairly Confident and all the Girls liked him and I once asked him why he was Flirting with a Girl he didn't even like and he was like "I don't know that's just how I talk to People" and I noticed he talks the same way with every Girl, So I think it is for some People especially if they are Confident.

It definitely could be. People with low self esteem may be especially prone to finding themselves addicted to flirting as it can serve as a form of validation.
