Whats a girls intentions approaching a guy at a bar?

Does she want to hookup? Is she only looking for free drinks? I don't get approached often in public, so a bar is about the only time I ever get approached. Honestly, I don't go to bars often, so with that taken into consideration the likelihood of a girl walking up to me in a bar is pretty likely. Lol so I don't know I just find it odd I don't get any attention anywhere else. My guard is usually up for this reason, so what is the usual reason for a bar approach?

Usually at a bar it’s safe for groups to meet groups. Rare for one person to randomly walk up to one person. But if you are in a group of friends and meet someone, she says hi just identify her group and make sure she’s safe. Then you can relax and enjoy the interaction.
