Does showing basic courtesy mean you're flirting?

I don't think any kind of courtesy/kindness is flirting, but apparently this girl at work thought I was flirting with her because I always offer to take her mail down to the mail room and hold doors open for her... like do I need to stop doing that for people?

Nah man, I wouldn't say doing normal polite stuff like holding doors or helping carry things means you're flirting. Some chicks just overthink things.

I'll be real though, if you're only offering to help HER specifically and not other co-workers too, she might think you're into her, ya know? But if you're just generally a courteous dude, then nah don't change.

Ain't nothing wrong with being kind. But I'd say tone down the kindness just towards her a little so she doesn't get the wrong idea. Still keep it polite, just make sure you help out the guys too when you can.

Don't stress too much though bro. She seems like the type to read into it - can't control what others think. As long as you know your intentions are just bein' neighborly, who cares what she assumes.

Keep doin' you man. Just don't go the extra mile just for her and it shouldn't come off flirty. Common courtesy never hurt nobody!

Not at all, although it is hard to tell especially when people are touchy with everyone they meet. It can be said for girls too, if a girl is polite, men immediately think it's flirting, which is also frustrating. I think in some cases, it depends on the person's experience and their exposure to the world of sex/flirting that could affect their thinking process.
