I don't know probably guys? Cause their ‘friendly’ looks different and they have sexual prospects in mind too.
I was going to say girls because they’d see guys being hardcore and then if they’re dialed down and socialize with the lady, the lady may find THAT to be a flirt because for him it’s ABNORMAL behavior.
BUT truth is he probably could be flirting than just being friendly. Guys are friendly with other guys and their friends. It’s rare they are just friendly exclusively and platonically with females. It’s either respectful/cordial/formal, or flirty. There’s still chance for friendliness but it’s probably rare.
I’d say overall guys misread female friendliness because they’re not used to that level of sensitivity and such. The friendliness with the bros consists of more extreme stuff, so for a lady friend to give a soft hug could be seen as a flirt maneuver. It’ll be confusing for him cause in his mind none of his guys friends give him hugs.
This is extreme level stuff though. Some guy friends do hug and some youngsters do grow up co ed and families get along so it’s easier to be friendly with each other and not misread it. Lots of exposure and respect. Etc.
I think overall it depends on person and the interaction. 🤷♀️ maybe even how well they like the person. In a friendship if one is crushing they’ll probably most likely misread friendship because of hopes for something more. It’s certainly possible.
It really just depends.

I would add this applies to flirting not love
Because why do guys act on an impulse if they thought she was dishing a sign out? A flirt?
Why do guys sometimes intentionally or unintentionally harass a female who wears some type of clothing in their presence?
Seen as a flirt? Seductive? Provocative? Open to?
But WOMEN can many times misread a man’s feelings for her regarding LOVE
Many and most times guys aren’t into loving the girls as they are to trying stuff
AND as with the earlier mention of friendships crushes and hope for more
Women here can easily mistake the flirts and attention for genuine interest or deep love
Cause she ultimately hopes/hoped for more.
So if it’s in their mind they’ll probably misread normal behavior and friendly behavior for other things.
For guys that would be inviting/invitational flirts
And for ladies it would be welcoming love.
Not always the case 😬
Ouch for both.
Embarrassment and heartbreak. 💔

Girls hands down. They tend to think guys are into them for the smallest things, like just because you made eye contact with them a handful of times or spoke to them in passing, or thinking some statement you made means you're attracted. This is because girls are taught that they are men's desire and that all men are constantly after them, even when we aren't, so they assume things to be something that they aren't. This creates a lot of unnecessary friction and awkwardness too, especially if she chooses to make something into a big deal where it shouldn't be.
No doubt that guys can sometimes think a girl is flirting, but I don't think we think that very often. Because we are taught that women are not desperate or that they are "less obvious," so most guys don't expect girls to be flirting that much.

True but I’ve seen my man and other men be rude or formal with women because they were taken. It’s just a serious matter at times. Probably why a lady would say that.
If she just made it up- that’s messed up but valid. It’s not just a misleading desire issue it’s that sometimes it can escalate very quickly to an unsafe issue. So how would she deal with it if you kept following her or so?
Or tried to befriend her and she didn’t wish to be friends?
Do guys say hi to other guys in passing on the street?
A good morning would seem a bit better id think but don’t let me school you or something on this matter - 1 y
@RageBabe We will agree to disagree. Guys say hello or nod in passing all the time. It's only women who take these simple gestures as meaning more than they should. Women tend to give themselves too much credit in appealing to men while most men are taught that women are not so direct in being attracted to a guy.
- 1 y
@RageBabe Actually we are. Men are very upfront/straightforward, but women misread us or overthink situations and get something out of it that isn't there. That's one of the most frustrating things in interacting with women. They can't just take you for who you are/what you're saying, they have to look for something they THINK is in the situation.
It's impossible to know for sure, but from my observations it seems like guys do.

Once upon a time, I found a hygiene box lid that was circular shaped and thought to myself yeah I can flip this because I saw someone flip a checkers piece because this would be the first time I played and I have only one shot too to get this right so I got my hygiene box lid and said example heads or tails for heads motherfucker and he said tails and lost I forgot so I said I have got top and I flipped it a pretty good ways down to the towel to muffle out the sound and she spun so fast I couldn't see her and she landed right were I needed it to land on the towel and I lost I'm kidding lol I won. Thank God I had a bunch of weight on my shoulders if I were to have lost. Very far from home too. Didn't have a camera. Didn't have anything else to flip for warfare.

Anonymous(45 Plus)1 yAll I have is opinions based on anecdotal evidence.
"She's being nice. Why is she being nice? What's her angle? (And they always seem to have one). What does she want?" Because, with a few exceptions... the only time women are kind to me is when they think I'll do something for them, or I might be "useful" at some point. I don't quite trust it because it's unusual... and... when they find out I won't just stupidly do what they want (because they batted those eyelashes a few times, or got really close) then conveniently that "kindness" seems to disappear. If they're kind because it's for manipulation, I'd argue it's not really being kind. It's being kind for a reputation, or because it's kind of expected (up to a point)...
I figure kindness is often fake (usually the case, but not always)... but I will patiently wait to find out if it's genuine. Last option is they are just one of those kind, genuine people. I would assume THAT before I'd assume flirting, though.
When I DO see flirting (very unusual), again, it's usually FOR something. or to try to mess with me. If I ever flirted back in response (because I'd stupidly think that it was real, or that it was ok because "that's what we're doing right now" and they're showing that it's ok), then all of a sudden, they're angry.
I have had several girls who flipped out when I was just being kind. Usually, they'd be able to see me just being kind to others in the same way. Then, they'd suddenly flip out at random and say "I'm not interested, you ugly freak" kind of thing... and I'd get confused because it came out of nowhere and made no sense (because I had never shown any sign of that kind of interest AND it was always so random)... and they just suddenly got angry or insulted me after a kindness... ("You always hold the door open for me!" "yes, and that little old lady, and that dad and his kids...") and either they'd flip out out of embarrassment that they thought I was interested (when I never showed romantic interest) or they flipped out because they still didn't believe me (I don't know which). But it'd go from sometimes what I had thought was a pretty genuine friendship by then, to them either being openly hostile, or suddenly making it weird and acting like I didn't exist... silent treatment, roll of the eyes, a sneer, blatantly ignoring me if I said "hello," or tried a conversation... the usual. I quickly leave them alone.12 Reply
Anonymous(30-35)1 yMen, and here's why. Women are not straightforward like men, at all. If they flirt, it's generally very subtle. So we men are left to guess whether a woman is flirting or just being friendly, because with most women it's impossible to tell the difference. Sorry ladies, but we still can't read your minds.
Half of women complain they can't be friendly with guys without them thinking it's flirting, and the other half complain men don't pick up on it when they flirt. And the reality is, they are often the same women.
This is a problem women have created for all of us.

Opinion Owner1 yThanks for your response. I much prefer a woman make it clear she is interested. Not a turn off at all. Quite the contrary really. You'd be surprised how often it sparks a guy's interest in a woman when he find out she's interested. Not always, of course, but more than once I've started being interested in a woman I wouldn't otherwise have thought much about when she showed interested in me.
Anonymous(25-29)1 yI know women will disagree, but I'm going to say women are more guilty of this...
Men might take compliments as flirting, but to be fair, women usually don't compliment men unless they are indeed flirting.
Just the other day I said "hi" to a woman in passing. We ended up making awkward eye contact so it felt like the right thing to do and she immediately told me (kind of aggressively) that she has a boyfriend. I have found myself in similar situations with women more than a few times, but this was the most recent.

Some crazy social chameleons out there - they'll change their tune to whoever they're with - be wary of those scary folks - the worst part is they don't even have a sense of self lol - how can people function like that, I was enjoying google lol 😆 some folks shamelessly don't self check in to live in a home aka health facility permanently lol instead we give them radio shows and TV contracts on big salaries - sigh 😔😔😆😆 scary folks they are
Opinion Owner1 y@paledreams I'm the same way now which is why I only said hi after making eye contact with her. That doesn't stop women from making up things in their head, though.

"she immediately told me (kind of aggressively) that she has a boyfriend."
- Yep, I've had that treatment as well. I don't know of any guy - myself included - who has ever jumped to tell a girl he has a girlfriend because he pre-maturely assumed she was making moves on him. Guys just don't do this.
Girls assume things and get the wrong idea from interaction with men 10x more, hands down. - 1 y
And the irony manonfire if @ManOnFire if the woman herself who responded aggressively is like, no superhot lady herself lol 😆 "I've seen hotter chicks lady on the reality shows who had bigger boobs, prettier faces, or warmer manners to strangers" and that was a TV show 😁

So I hear ya man + I hear you men 👀😋🥲🥲
- 1 y
Totally man right here with ya I know those feels damn 👀👀👀😁
Opinion Owner1 y@ManOnFire "don't know of any guy - myself included - who has ever jumped to tell a girl he has a girlfriend" spitting facts. The confidence women have to assume every guy wants to fuck them is something I'll never understand because my insecure self could never think that way. Lol
- 1 y
We' re all heroes in our own rights as single males ♂️🫡🫡 let's all accept an (honorary) salute 🫡😋👀
1 yI've seen a lot of chicks categorize some dude that obviously just wants to fuck her brains out as a friend.
At the same time I've seen tons of dudes not take blatant signs of sexual advancement as non-sexual advances... or out of sheer fear they will not accept the invitation.
Anecdotal observation is telling me something, but the way the question is worded forces me to decline to answer.
Plus I just found out techno Viking went gay. I suspected it to be honest. But it's like when you find out one of your best friends went gay... it sort of hurts my pride. I will not be listening to techno for a few days... it just sounds gay to me right now. This must be what depression feels like. That guy is probably pretty scary if he's a top, so I hope he's just a bottom and a non-threat.

1 yWomen are more likely to flirt when they have no sexual interest. Both genders do it, but it's almost never just being friendly and I'd say that for men it's never, except maybe very rarely. I would advise women never to do this unless they mean it, it's confusing and more often hurtful than healthy.
21 ReplyEvery time im nice to a girl she assumes im flirting with her
It wasn’t always the case, definitely became more of a thing when I gained in attraction points
And I know guys do it too
I think it comes down to this: if you secretly wish someone flirted with you you will make that conclusion in the face of a harmless comment21 ReplyGirls interpret it more, guys act on it more. That is, girls are hyper sensitive of thinking guys are into them (mostly in a defensive way) and guys occasionally think girls are into them, but almost always act on it.

1 yDefinitely men, it is called sexual overperception bias and has been demonstrated in experiments. The logic behind why this is the case is simple and almost undeniable: If some men had this tendency and other men didn't, which ones would have bred more? Obviously, the ones with this tendency, and so the genes which produced this tendency were passed on more often, and so most men have this tendency. Simple evolution.

1 yWomen are usually more into networking and bonding. But they are also less likely to approach men they are interested than vice versa.
So this can go either way. Men are being told not to quickly assume woman who approaches them as her wanting more. Yet when a woman does approach a man (which is less common) it can also be a sign she’s very interested.

Anonymous(25-29)1 yIt isn't about mistaking. Guys are much more likely to seize the smallest opening unless they are not interested, not in a position to pursue or just really lacking in confidence.
Women think because they have an u sightly mole behind their left ear that no guy could possibly want them so they downplay obvious flirting.
Women don't know how to respond to a guy showing interest in a respectful way since crude behaviour is so prevalent.

31 ReplyI know that I have often misread signals. Unfortunately, that has made me extremely cautious around women because I always assume they're just being friendly when there may be occasions that they actually are flirting. Suppose I got tired of feeling stupid even though I may be missing out on occasion.

1 yGirls. Just because you like them and just wanna be their friend, they think you just wanna fuck them.
45 Reply- 1 y
So maybe both?
Men misread friendliness as flirting which lead to ideal sex?
Women misread flirting for being cute and an interest that leads to true love?
But many times both can be wrong? 🤔 yeah I’d say both.
Who started the world of flirting and what is it’s purpose to date or to fuck lol - 1 y
@Rosexøxø Most likely, it does go both ways but, I've seen instances where girls just take the slightest interest in her from a guy as potential boyfriend or even marriage material whereas, the guy just said hello to her at a party! I think it's because girls are more emotional! And, there's been a few times where I just said something VERY casual and friendly to a girl and she IMMEDIATELY announced to me that she wasn't interested in me as a boyfriend so, I should stop trying! I just added my 2c worth into the conversation!!
In the meantime, I rarely ever see either of those coming from a guy!
Sure, if a guy REALLY LIKES a girl and she actually talks to him, he MIGHT get overly excited about it but, he doesn't just assume she's now his girlfriend. - 1 y
@Rosexøxø Yes, it's possible. There was a movie in the `80's called, "Hard Bodies". One of the characters was this hot, sexy blonde who seemed to talk non-stop sexual inuendoes so, everybody called her, Ear Candy. She WASN'T TRYING to get laid, she just liked talking like a sex kitten. All of her male friends knew this and never bothered to hit on her but, if she did it to guys that didn't know her, they'd get the wrong idea.
As for it happening in real life, I guess it depends on the guy. Some might KNOW that it's a come-on, others might know it's just her being friendly.
It also depends on the girl: if a guy gets the wrong idea, she COULD eventually shut him down by simply explaining that she was only being friendly.
2 real examples: One night back in `84, I went to see The Fixx. After the show, I was in line waiting for autographs and met this girl there and we quickly got to be what I thought was at least good friends. After we got the autographs, I found out that she only lived maybe 2 miles away and, since I was walking that way to get home, anyway. I opted to walk her to her place before going to mine, another 5 or 6 miles away. By the time we got to her place and were saying goodnight, we stood out front and hugged and kissed and kept on hugging and kissing (in the rain!) for a good half an hour or 2 before she decided to go inside. It looked to me like we were now an item! before going in, we made plans to meet there again the next morning and go a few places together. I went over the next morning at the chosen time and she was gone! I waited at least 5 or 6 hours for her to come back! When she finally did, she said she went to a mall with a girlfriend of hers and made a decision to move, right then and there! I never heard from her again! - 1 y
About half a mile down the road from her place and 7 years later, I was playing a gig at a bar and, after my part of the show was over, I sat alone for a couple hours `til the whole show was over. In walks these two women that came to see the other band and they sit and start talking with me the rest of the time I'm there. When I was being driven back home, we figured we'd never see each other again. A week or two later, I ran into one of those 2 waiting for a bus! SHE recognized ME, called me over and started chatting me up! We got to talking about music, she was VERY interested and, after talking at the bus stop for well over an hour, invited me to her place where she could write down the records I was telling her about. 3 weeks later, she & I were very steady lovers for most of the next 10 years!
