Is saying to a guy, "I like you," corny?

So the question is fairly self-explanatory. But is saying to a guy I like you corny? I had a guy tell me it is. But I planned on saying this in a joking manner but looking him straight in the eyes with a serious look. If it is in fact corny. What is another way to put this?

Or I am not sure if you guys have seen but there is a famous tiktok where the girl goes. My friend over there thinks you're cute. But in reality it is the girl doing this pretending she is the friend. Hi everyone,

He did not end up liking me back. He was respectful about it. I do not regret telling him as I feel it is attractive to make your intentions known. I know who I am. And that’s all I really care about. Coping with my feelings after was a little difficult. It not matter what you look like or how beautiful you are some people just have a type sure being beautiful helps but it’s not everything. In the end we just have different personalities. And that’s ok.

I don’t know if I would call it corny, let me try to answer in two ways. The first is, if a guy said it to me, if I liked him, I would be pleased, but if I felt neutral to him, I would be like, that’s it? That’s how you say this? I would not be impressed.

The second way I will answer is, I wouldn’t say anything like that unless we were already dating, I think it creates more problems than benefits for a girl to say anything along those lines before there is some stability in a relationship. I don’t want to make you nervous but if I imagine myself (when single) saying that to a guy I don’t know well, I am pretty sure what would happen is that he would make fun of me behind my back and everybody I know would view me as desperate. I feel bad for saying that but it is my honest opinion and, I have actually seen it happen to friends. JMO though!

Do you mean a guy who wasn’t interested in you anyhow, would be mean?

Or do you mean a guy that would’ve liked you except you asked him if he liked you so now he’s mean?

Don’t worry about his reaction IF the feeling is mutual. Actually don’t worry about it at all. If it’s mutual he will feel the same- obviously and cheers for that. But if it’s not mutual he won’t feel the same- either way his reaction to your comment isn’t a big deal.

What matters is what it all means to you. Liking and corny. Is all that this statement is, is corny? Or is this your feelings.

Your feelings are valid. If you like him what is the goal here. Dating? companionship? Short term? Long term? Marriage? friends with benefits? Whichever it is, just be sure you know which one it is for YOU. Don’t take it to heart if his response isn’t what you had hoped for, and don’t let him decide what you both will be while you just float along taking whichever is offered. Have goals for yourself and try to stay aligned with them.

Yeah, it might be corny, but who really cares?

A lot comes down to exactly what you say and how you say it. From the way you plan to approach him, you seem pretty tuned in to that dynamic. TBH, I love the tiktok. She gets the message across in a charming, self effacing way. He loves it.

Just do it. You have everything to gain. It's difficult to envision him reacting badly if there's a vibe between you two.

To a REAL man, being told “I like you” after having genuine, interesting conversations and everything else seems to be going well, excites and pleases him. If things seem the complete opposite of this, then don’t tell him “I like you”, because chances are that he might decide to just fuck around with you and waste your time.

Too many women nowadays are too indirect, as men can hardly understand “hints”/“clues”. It’s best to be direct so there are LESS complications, saves time, and energy.

Thank you he is admittedly more a shy guy. We're flirty the majority of the time more-so in-person. He really is not that great at responding via social media.
