Anonymous(45 Plus)1 yWell according to what I say zero. But according to women, a lot. The same happens in the work place. I have a co-worker, female, easy to get along w. She’s about my age, maybe a few years younger. But over time we developed a good work relationship. So people would say she’s my work wife. She usually knows where I am just as I know where she is. We help each other a lot owning in the hospital. She does a lot of my assignments as I do for her. We laugh, joke. I can be me w out having to worry about being called into the manager’s office cause she’s fun like that. She jokes w me, tells jokes that others may think is inappropriate. But then I get these other women saying wow she likes you, you like her, you’re always flirting w her. No I’m not. I’m being me. Hard to find women in the work place these days who are cool, who don’t get offended by every little thing. It goes for men in general. Look at how many questions women post asking what does this mean? He smiled at mean what does that mean? He opened the door for me what does that mean? He said hi what does that mean? Women seem to turn everything into something. So the fact that I talk to one girl more then the other implies that I’m flirting w her.

Asker1 yIn social/ workplace settings when you tend to give more attention to one person consistently then yes, people can assume you are flirting, but in my opinion as long as you both are clear about your boundaries, it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks. For them it’s just gossip

The thing is in having this sort of association you're effectively "cock blocking" one another from finding another person who is, in fact, girlfriend/boyfriend material for each of you. You're taking up her space and she is taking up yours. The "work wife"/"work husband" scenario is often potent enough to make an ACTUAL spouse or SO feel insecure about their relationship with a person. It's important to have a line of professional demarkation.
Opinion Owner1 y@DishLady lol ok

If I actually do flirt with someone online, which is exceedingly rare, then I am serious about it. The amount of times I've done so can be counted on one hand.
I mean actual flirting, though; the kind with intent. Not just being nice, or making jokes, but real, genuine flirting.

1 yI don't flirt with girls online. I do compliment their opinions or intelligence when I see them make an opinion that I agree with or was highly intelligent. I don't think that counts as flirting as I do it to both men and women.

1 yMost people flirting online are either people who struggle getting someone in real life…. Or are just doing it for attention and to feel validated.
Both men and women doing it

1 yOne, if I don't have a relationship and am not too busy. Two just makes me forget if I already said something or not, and it takes too much time. I'd rather do some hobbies then. I'm fully aware that some younger guys do end up with multiple online flirts, and I'm sorry for those that need to go through that.
One can be nice if both are OK with it, it feels more personal. Even if it's 'only' online, you're still being appreciated by a real person and someone appreciates you, which feels nice.If I have a relationship, then it would be wrong and just feels bad. There would also not be a reason to be online.

1 yZero. Being friendly is one thing, but with most of everyone online being states away, why would either have expectation of things going beyond friendly messages? It is completely unrealistic. Very few will actually hop on a plane or whatever and travel hundreds or more milds away just for a face to face that likely will go absolutely no where. So why does either sex even build up hope for some sort of mythical love affair developing? Be realistic…

Asker1 yNot building any mythical love affair, both are practical enough to know better. Sometimes, it’s not planned, things just go there when you’re vibing with someone
Anonymous(45 Plus)1 yWell, considering the lady who you are flirting with most likely doesn't live anywhere near you, it makes it difficult to take it further anyway. Online flirting is just that. It is possible to lead to more and I'm sure it happens, but mostly just flirting.
00 ReplyI tend to think that flirting online happens with an open mind, but as you learn more about someone you may realise this isn't a long-term prospect. If it happens several times, some women may think you were never open.

1 yPlayers flirt with a lot of girls and have no intention of going further. Regular guys don’t usually do that.
