I’m genuinely curious because if shy or average guys stay quiet we’re ignored, but if we approach politely we’re seen as suspicious.
How are men supposed to show interest without being judged?
Do women realise this makes it impossible for the good guys?

If a total stranger approaches a girl, it is most likely to attempt to hit on her. In 2025 nobody really asks for directions or for the time of day. That leaves basically 3 options.

1. ask for a cigarette or a match

2. wants to sell drugs

3. wants to hit on that specific girl

In my case, I will be very suspicious why a man does approach me without him knowing me. I will be on my guard instantly and get ready to flee or attempt to get at my pepper spray mainly if that approach is made at night.

I've had strangers approach me many times, and I'm always super annoyed, especially when they just want to get to know me and ask me out.
If they have a legit reason for approaching like asking for help or directions, I do respond politely, but I've also had numerous experiences with men using that as an opener to try flirting with me.

Unless I'm in a social setting like a party or get-together, I don't want to be approached or have any contact with other people that isn't necessary.

Uhh well first I’d be scared until I knew he wasn’t gonna try to hurt me, then after finding out he’s being polite and is nice, I would probably respond in a nice way depending on what he said first
