Because they want to smash. They understand that if they are attractive and say it enough times, then the fact we decide in the first 10 seconds whether we are going to smash a guy, that they can get to the smashing easier just by telling the hotter girls that we are beautiful. The hotter girls are more likely to have a lot of sex and casual hookups anyway, so it makes sense. It's also usually true they find us beautiful, which is why they would say it to someone they never even met before. It's not random at all - the compliments are given way more the hotter a girl is. If you're hot, you get used to it happening all the time, and mabe you come to like it whether or not the anwer is yes or no. The spectacular yeses make the nos worthwhile.
