Difference between the guy being 'interested' and guy 'liking' you?

When I was talking to my boyfriend, he told me that based on first impression he immediately was interested, but he didn't 'like' me.

What does this mean?

I can Categorize it into many different levels:

1. Interest

2. Talking/Liking

3. Dating

4. Relationship

5. Serious Relationship

6. Marriage

He wants to get to know you, he thinks you're interesting to talk to. If he likes you he's going to say it. Maybe who know he will like you in the future. So take your time and don't rush things. Basically he's interested in getting to know you in order to like you

Interested: You think they could be someone you might like, so you want to get to know them better and find out.

Like: You already know them fairly well and know enough about them to know that you definitely have feelings for them.
