If a girl says hi to you for some time and then stops, should I ignore her too (read details plz)?

I have a situation. This girl started saying hi to me for some time (about 2 months) and then she stopped. I then initiated the conversations with her for about 1 month. She never initiated a conversation with me during this month so I thought maybe she didn't like talking to me and I stopped talking to her. Then 1 month goes by without any communication between us and then a few days ago, she says hi to me again. why do you think she said hi again and do you think I did the right thing ignoring her too?

I think it wasn't necessarily the best idea to ignore her. Maybe she had a tough month or had things going on or didn't see you. Guys should be the one to start the conversation that's just part of what guys do. I think you should keep talking to her and maybe get to know her more then just "hi" because maybe she had a thing for you and just gave up because you weren't making a move at all and felt like she was the one starting all the converations and moves and maybe she felt like she was annoying you.
