Never get compliments, i think i'm pretty. why?

I think I'm pretty, but sometimes its flattering to receive compliments from others. Why do I never get any compliments ..neither from my bf.

I'm 5'5", 104 pounds, 30D bra size, jeans size 3, long dark brown hair and green eyes. I go to the gym twice a week. Great personality, but shy.

Last thing someone told me was "you look like a manga/anime girl" ..should I take it as a compliment? What does it mean?

You're a bit too wild looking for my tastes. Don't get me wrong. I think you're pretty, but all that color in your hair does make you look like an anime girl. You a natural beauty with curves in the right places and slender, but that extra hair color and heavy eye makeup is just too much. You're welcome. Honestly though, you're quite pretty, but even something like a tasty treat with too much sugar on it can be too much. Tone it down a bit, you have a lot work with already. By the way, if you're boyfriend isn't complementing you every once in a while, it is time to get a new boyfriend. If my girlfriend didn't complement me regularly (she does) then I'd dump her and find someone who affirmed who I am and why she thought I'm attractive.

I've been with him for 3 years now and I get compliment from him only when I change my haircut. When I wear less or no makeup, he will tell me I look sick or tired. So that's why I put on so much makeup. I'm not confident anymore when I go in public places with no makeup on.

Talk to him and tell him you want it to be more like when you first started dating. That you make a point of noticing the little things more (both of you) and that want to make him feel special and vice versa. Repeat some of hte fun things you did when you first started dating. Google some romantic things to do for your bf.

People get that you think you're pretty & don't see why they would say something you already know.

They might think your answer to "You're very pretty" would be "I know, thanks" & trust me, it's not the answer you expect from someone you've just complimented.

A lot of times, people won't compliment someone who's obviously cute, especially if she seems to be confident. They figure you already know you're cute, so they don't feel like they have to say anything.

As guys we usually aren't great about communicating our feelings, which can include compliments. So that might be why your boyfriend doesn't compliment you...he might feel like he *shows* you how he feels about you with his actions rather than showering you with words/compliments.

Guys don't usually go around hitting on more reserved girls, we go more so for the outgoing ones, so if you're quiet, random dudes aren't going to just walk up to you and tell you how pretty you are if you aren't giving open body language and a smile.

Don't cross your arms. Don't stick them in your pockets. Don't wear the "bitch face" of pouting/scowling. Smile instead. Make direct eye contact. I'm a man, and I never get complemented on my looks. Seriously and I'm average looking/decent looking and tall. Men virtually never get affirmation. Yes, we complement each other fairly regularly. My point is, that a man will go just about his entire life without being told he's handsome, sexy or anything like that. Seriously, unless you're in the top 5% of guys with looks, you girls don't affirm us as attractive. It is rather depressing. It wasn't until I was 22 and had my first girlfriend that someone called me handsome/sexy. I went my whole young life thinking I was ugly. It crushed my self-esteem.

Why not give him encouragement? Tell him that you feel sexy when he does that, but that you also feel really attractive when he whispers in your ear how beautiful you are. He might need more coaxing, but if he knew how much it meant, you might get more of it. Keep on telling him how much you like it when he says "blah blah blah" in your ear and that way he'll get the hint that you want to hear it more often.

Then that would be the biggest point here, is that your boyfriend wasn't that guy when you first got with him and he, in all likelihood, isn't like that now. You could try discussing with him that the lack of affection is weighing on you, but maintain a realistic outlook of where he's coming from as well.
