Why do pretty girls fish for compliments

I always see girls post attractive photos on Facebook or something like that with a stupid caption like "lol I look so gross in this one!" or "no makeup!" Then everyone comments stupid sh*t like "girl, you are so gorgeous! what are you talking about?" WTF? If you know you're hot why not just chill the hell out and be confident in yourself? To be honest, though, a lot of girls who do this aren't even the BEST looking. They're pretty attractive but not drop-dead gorgeous. The really beautiful girls, I've noticed, are pretty chill about it. It's just annoying to see fairly attractive girls doing this and it actually makes me never want to compliment them just to spite them, or comment something like "yeah, you are f***ing beat without makeup. Jesus."

They want to know what others think. Yes they know they are pretty, but it's always better to hear that your pretty from a stranger because they have no connection to you, and no preconceived notion of you.

Now some girls might be insecure, and are wanting to be called pretty to boost their confidence.

And some are just camera whores lol.

Meh, I don't mind it. Why get p*ssed when a girl does it? Just skip it, and move on. Do you think she's really going to reply if you comment negative things? And even if you comment nice things, the most she might do is say "thanks :)".

Lots of girls have extremely poor self esteem, and actually think that they're horribly ugly, when they are, in fact, not at all ugly. It's terribly sad, honestly.

we all want reassurance in the things we do at times.

So many people lack confidence in their looks and maybe some are genuine and think they look rough. If a few people reassure then that lifts the person there is no harm in that.

A simple smile or saying something nice can make a lot of difference to some people.

maybe the girl just doenst think she's prettty. you don't know girls. their wiked insecure and its mostly guys tht make them feel tht way. you can't just accuse someone of "fishing for compliments" when they might not be. if their conceited then its diffferent.

Then, when someone calls them fat they're like "have you looked in the mirror lately blah blah blah"

They feed off compliments...

Many pretty girl are completly self-absored and have come to estimate themselves based to their looks alone. So for these girls, compliments are crucial. Meh.
