Girls: Do you ever get tired of compliments?

Like do compliments not mean as much to you anymore? I know a lot of girls respond in a nice manner but do they ever get sick of hearing them?

I get sick of them. Its not JUST that I get sick of them, but I feel bad because a lot of girls depend on them for their self-esteem (mainly really pretty ones) and will hurt a lot when they're older and all of a sudden the compliments stop. I've read a lot of stories of women who went through this and now I just don't want these compliments. Its also really infuriating when you're trying to have a good conversation and the guy just sighs, "you're beautiful" and its like thanks but what about the conversation? OH you weren't listening? Okay...

Honestly, yeah I do take care of my figure, skin, and outfit, but 80-90% of looks are genes! Its like complimenting something I barely had a hand in. I think it is pointless. I prefer compliments on things I've worked on, "Your skin is so soft, you look so healthy, you're really fit, your hair looks healthy/great!"

And before people get mad at me, I went through an ugly duckling phase for 1/2 of my life. I NEVER received compliments then. My face just looked weird for some reason. I guess I grew into it. I didn't walk around wishing people would pay me compliments even though they complimented my sis right and left. I didn't care and I still don't. The only person I like compliments from is my boyfriend and my sister. Those are the most meaningful to me because there isn't anything they want from me.

If they come from heterosexual guys that have hit puberty as I find them to be meaningless sh*t that's generally said out of desire to bust a nut inside me.

Depends on who it is from.

In my experiences most gals are only sick of the strings that are attached to compliments aka what generally happens afterward such as asking her out, asking to f*ck her, making creepy passes, etc.

I don't really get tired of them..the effect can wear off after a while if a lot of people keep saying the same thing, but that doesn't happen often.

The best compliments are ones from strangers...one I remember that really made me happy was when I was at work (as a cashier) and an older woman told me my smile was beautiful and that o should keep smiling. It's stuff like that will really make people happy.

Also, I take gratitude as a big compliment. It feels so good to have someone be appreciative (especially working in retail/customer service!)

I think girls like getting compliments. I think it opens a door in conversations and as long as it isn't overdone, it is fine.

As for me, when I get compliments, I don't let it go to my head and I won't let myself become arrogant. Getting compliments is alright, but I don't want to be so attached to compliments that I can't handle criticism.

Don't know about the girls here, but I personally enjoy them. It does get annoying when you get the same compliment over and over by the same people.

No, never get tired of them. Gotta say sometimes girls can feel really down even feel ashame of herself for being clumsy at things :( and then a guy compliment you BAM! Yay feeling happy again and I'll thanks this gentleman :D If a girl get tired of compliments then I don't understand (being Superficial maybe...until you buy her something pricey she will feel ''Complimented'' then?)

No, I always appreciate compliments. Some may mean more than others, that's true. But I still feel grateful when someone pays me a compliment.

If it's random and filthy, that'd be the only time I'd be annoyed with it, haha!

yes I do lol it seems like everyone I encounter has one to give. and theyre and with guys I'm so jaded  lol I assume they all just wanna get in my pants. well that's what my ex said in our 2 years together and he's a guy. so he should know.

It depends on the compliment. :) Like, say, "you're so hot!" then you hear that pretty often, you don't really get tired of it, but sometimes you do wish you'd hear something else like "you're so beautiful. :)"

Real life compliments, no...  they are few and far between... Internet compliments are mostly meaningless...

I ADORE compliments..I never get sick of them. If people say it to me in person then it really makes me blush and become very happy. If people say it over the internet, it doesn't really mean anything to me

They're great if you only get a few, but if you get them a lot then they just don't mean anything, so you just have to say thanks awkwardly and try to talk about something else.
