Is it weird or not, sleeping together via Skype?

I've been dating a guy for 6 months and out of nowhere he asks a request if we could just leave the video call on while we sleep. We see each other on a regular basis of 3 times a week so why would he still ask that kind of request?

Weirdly and oddly enough I used to do this with a best friend. And actually it was his idea. But we also couldn't see each other, we live on different states. I thought it was weird in the beginning but it totally helped me with my nightmares. I think its sweet that he wants to fall asleep seeing you.
