Is flirting while in a relationship cheating?

Of course, maybe not physically cheating, but do you think it is a FORM of cheating? Or is it harmless and okay? What do you think?

Would you personally tolerate your partner flirting with others while in a relationship with you?

i wouldn't tolerate my girl flirting with anybody male or female its wrong and I know if I did the say she would flip the f*** out. here's a little story I had to experience with what you just asked she even did it in front of me.

My junior prom I went to the dance with my girlfriend who was this pretty popular senior and I didn't think much of her in the way that she liked to flirt with other people because I never had done that with anyone I was with. We had dinner like they usually have and then the dance which she danced with other people O.o and then we had a post prom with more food and the last part was a comedy show. During this comedy show at 3 am I was nearly falling asleep I think that is why she thought she could get away with it. well at this comedy show I sat to her left and a friend of mine sat to her right. Well they were flirting pretty well the entire thing and I had asked her what the hell are you doing you know what the girl replied? "That is just how our relationship is" yeah my ass. It took everything I had not to just walk out on her. I wish I had not been such a nice person at the time. After the comedy show I dumped her on prom night and never spoke to her again.

Flirting may seem harmless in the definition of cheating it is not but its opens up a world of possibilities more than just flirting and it is destructive and any girl that flirts with other guys I'm dating they get kicked the f*** out same day I don't play that sh*t nor should anyone else. People who do this do not deserve to be in any relationship

Is it technically cheating? No. And sitting in a driver's seat drunk in a parked car isn't technically drinking and driving. It may not technically be drunk driving, but it's just not a good idea.

With flirting, it's a lot about intention. Is your partner just flirting because they are a flirt? Or are they flirting to make you jealous so you will pay them more attention?

Whatever the case, whatever the excuses, intentions notwithstanding, I think this is more a matter of respect toward your partner than anything else. If you are with someone, you should respect them enough not to flirt with someone else.

It's something I don't tolerate in a relationship. If you want to flirt, then have fun flirting while you're single because I don't have time for it and I don't need the worry or hassle it causes.

Eh, it really does depend. SOme people are just like that, and if they are then that's how they are and I can either get over it or I have to not be with them. They aren't going to change- they probably can't. It's like people who are naturally pun-ny... they can't stop, the puns fly out of their mouth before they even realize what they said. As long as it's not done all sneaky-like and there's no touching involved, I think it's okay. Anyway, if I'm going to be in a relationship with someone, I had better be able to trust him. If I can't trust him- if the flirting thing keeps me up at night- then I need to re-evaluate the whole thing.

I chose option B...just because I don't think it definitely always is a form of cheating, or that its harmless...but in the middle..

the only times it's okay in my book is when it satisfies three circumstances

- it is an OBVIOUS given that there is no genuine desire (past, present OR potential future) to have a one night stand with, or have a relationship with, that person,

- it's out of fun

- it's not a secret

...but mainly, as long as you think the other person's ugly and you wouldn't f*** them with a stick (im sorry that's shallow but its true), it's okay

I think the question really is do people who are in relationships consider it cheating to flirt? Perhaps if they do they justify flirting by saying it is harmless fun. However, could harmless fun be an oxymoron to their SO? They perhaps just a wolf in sheep's clothing when flirting with someone while they are in a relationship. And perhaps it is considered cheating because they feel they have lost the spark and that anticipation of having fun so they make up for it by finding the spark in someone else, and this is only one of the reasons it can be considered cheating on their SO.

I voted A because the only time I find genuine flirting permissible is if you work a job that requires it to increase sales volume...otherwise I have a zero tolerance policy.

I'm talking about obvious flirtation (not "being friendly to a guy and an insecure person can think I'm flirting").

This is one of the VERY few things that someone can consider "prudish" about me...but frankly I don't give a damn.

You will be shocked at how many females nowadays lack that basic respect towards their partner.

It's a step towards cheating. Most people will agree that by flirting back, you acknowledge that you have some form of interest in the other person. This typically says to the other person, "Hey, feel free to continue/make a move."

You're damn right it's cheating. It's just as much of a form of cheating as kissing or sex. The issue is how to accurately define flirting and it's important for you and your significant other to have a mutual understanding on what is flirting and what is talking with a member of the opposite sex.

I'd say yes, because it's, like others said, a step towards cheating, since you are expressing interest in someone other than your SO, but on the other hand, it also depends on how serious the flirting is. I would also find it pointless to flirt with someone outside your relationship with your SO, because you're already with someone, so what's the point?

Flirting is fine as long as he is not flirting while I'm with him.  If I'm with him he better not stare at other women out of sheer respect for me.  The same would apply to me.  However, I couldn't care less if he randomly flirted with some girl while in a one week trip.  As long as he doesn't sleep with her or kiss her, I'd be fine.

i absolutely 100% would not date someone who flirted with other people while we were dating. I'd wonder what the issue is with that person (insecurity, low self-esteem, a need for attention, etc) that they constantly need to attention of someone despite being with someone.

just think of it like this... if your boyfriend flirted with another girl in front of you, would it be ok? if it's not OK while you're there, it's not OK when you're not there.

even though this question isn't about you, just think about it like that though. I think that in a relationship you should always consider how you would feel if the other person did that to you.

whether it's flirting, talking to exes, dancing with other people while clubbing, etc.

both people in the relationship should outline the boundaries so it is clear what is considered acceptable and what is not.

I voted B;  I think it depends.  It's cheating if there the person is knowingly flirting (whether with intent to get physical or for an ego boost).  Sometimes though, people come off as flirty without realizing it...in that case it wouldn't be cheating.

I would go for second option. It may not always be cheating but there comes situations when this small, apparently harmless, flirting can be dangerous for you relationship. I mean who knows when you two are alone and this, apparently harmless, flirting things leads to an unwanted act. If you know what I mean.

No, I love it, I encourage it. I like it how she turns other guys on and teases me with it. We later than role play, how I am the other guy and have sex. We also turn this role around, were I would flirt with a girl. It's more of a game for us and we've been doing it for about 3 years now.

I know this is unconventional and perhaps unacceptable to most couples, but it works for us. We haven't slept with other people yet, but we have discussed it and might try it with another couple.

Depends. I have been with girls who by nature, unknowingly flirt with guys. It is just the way they run. If she is simply whispering some sweet nothings to the guy every now and then, I would tolerate it. However, if there is any mention of sexual activity or touching...than we will have issues.

Not really, but it depends if your SO agrees with it or not.. my girlfriend (or ex, not sure) thinks it's fine and so do I which means in our relationship it's totally fine.. If you're SO doesn't want you to it's best not (but then they can't either!)
